Mauricio Acebey, M.D. is the founder of Spine and Rehabilitation Physicians. He is a board certified physiatrist with multiple board certifications including physical medicine and rehabilitation, pain medicine, sports medicine, and electrodiagnostic medicine. He is a specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of back and neck conditions as well as peripheral nerve problems. He has further training and expertise in fluoroscopically guided, minimally invasive spinal procedures including sacroiliac joint injections, epidural and facet injections, radiofrequency neurotomy, lumbar discography and spinal cord stimulator trials. He also performs diagnostic tests in electromyography and nerve conduction studies for peripheral nerve problems such as carpal tunnel syndrome.
Dr. Acebey is a graduate of the University of Chicago in which he obtained both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Spanish literature. He is fluent in conversational Spanish. He attended Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated in 1997. Subsequently, he completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the prestigious Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (an affiliate of Northwestern University Medical School). Afterwards, he pursued and completed a fellowship in Interventional Pain at Georgia Pain Physicians in Atlanta in 2002, focusing on interventional spine procedures.
